Three Simple Meals Using Naan Bread

March 31, 2021

Naan flatbread is a staple in my household these days. I discovered this brand at Costco a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back. It is so versatile! Naan is similar to Pita bread, except that the texture is a bit different since it is made with an egg/yogurt base. But Pita bread would work just as well with any of the following recipes!

Here are THREE simple ways that you can incorporate this delicious bread into your meal rotation. Any of these ideas would be great as lunch or dinner, and they are kid-friendly!

Idea 1: Grilled Tuna

I used to make grilled tuna just like you would make grilled cheese, until I discovered naan. Now I love to whip up some tuna and scoop it onto the flatbread plus some pepper jack cheese for me (regular cheddar for the kiddos) and broil for a few minutes until the naan is toasty. Add whatever toppings your heart desires. My husband and I love sliced pepperoncinis and a drizzle of sriracha sauce to take the flavor up a notch! So tasty!

Idea 2: Personal Pizzas

My kids love to make these! Just line up the ingredients on the counter and let them go at it. We just use regular ol’ pizza sauce plus mozzarella cheese and whatever toppings we have on hand. For these particular pizzas we did pepperoni, sausage (I cooked up italian sausage a couple days prior for another recipe and just used the leftovers) and olives. You could do chicken alfredo, barbeque chicken or even vegetarian. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until cheese is nice and melty.

Idea 3: Grilled Chicken and Pesto

This is a regular in my dinner rotation with a yummy side salad. Sprinkle some mozzarella cheese onto each flatbread and broil until cheese is melty (about 3-5 minutes, depending on your oven). Meanwhile, grill some chicken in a skillet and then cut into bite-sized pieces. You could also use leftover chicken or even Rotisserie! Put the chicken back in the skillet and add however much pesto sauce you want! Stir until chicken is coated. Spoon the chicken mixture onto each toasty flatbread.

There are a million other ways to use naan bread! You could make mini tostadas or even toast the naan and spread some nutella on top with sliced bananas (I may have tried that as a snack for myself a time or two!) ๐Ÿ˜‰
