Word To Your Mother: Great Gifts for Mother’s Day

It’s time to show our appreciation for the wonderful women in our lives who wear the many hats required for Motherhood. Mother’s Day is May 9th!

Parenting, Wife-ing, Daughtering, Sistering in a Pandemic is a twisty road. Our chance to show our love through thoughtful gifts is a blessing, and we want to make it even more fun! Below we’ve curated a list of great gifts to show your gratitude this Mother’s Day.

Personalized Key Ring

Recently I came across a key ring from the Etsy shop called CreateGiftLove that reminded me of the days when women used to carry a plastic pamphlet filled with photos of their children and grandchildren in their purse, ready for show and tell anytime.

This key ring is made with leather and a steel plate inlay, complete with a photo of your special people. Whether you’re gifting your mom, sister, grandma, or a friend– this gift is practical and precious.

Floral Heart for a Fantastic Cause

This is a wonderful gift for the mama in your life that loves to give back, especially to children. From Etsy shop kaleeLu, the “Listen to Your Heart” fundraiser supports the artist’s niece born February 12, 2021 with a congenital heart defect. This sweet baby will need a full reconstructive heart surgery between ages 4 and 8 months, followed by consistent monitoring and eventual valve replacements.

The artist, Kaleena, is a good friend of Lindsay’s. She uses the money she earns from sales of this beautiful line to support her brother and sister-in-law as they do what’s necessary to give their daughter the life she is fighting to live. Pick from cards, posters, journals, mugs, shirts and beyond with this unique print and help supplement a family’s efforts to keep a little girl’s heart strong.

Pocket Sized Photo Book

A small photo book offers unique intimacy and accessibility to memories for the recipient.

I love the idea of capturing moments that can be easily revisited through the passage of precious photos. Social Print Studio is a super easy to use app and is offering a sale for Mother’s Day gifts using the code MOMISWORTHIT for 15% off through April 27th. Check out all their awesome products!

Gorgeous Blooms For the Gardener

As gardening is becoming a larger part of my life through my husband’s ambitions, I am more and more interested in planting flowers that can beautify my landscaping and also be fresh cut to adorn my home.

While you can choose to hit up Wal-Mart or your local gardening store, I also discovered the option of ordering bulbs from Amazon. One of my personal favorite blooms is the Ranunculus flower. I have never seen them for sale where we live and was delighted to find them on Amazon. With a gift like this, you’re giving mom flowers for more than one day a year.

What I Love About Mom Knock Knock Book

Lindsay once gave me a Knock Knock book titled “Why You’re My Bestie” and she filled in all the prompts inside. It was hands down one of the best gifts I have ever received and I keep it where I can see it every day. Knock Knock makes all kinds of “fill in the blank” type books, and naturally they have one that allows you to show the love to your mom. This is a cute way to share varied reasons you are so grateful for your mom and the special qualities unique to her, and its a keepsake she can look at for years to come.

Beholding And Becoming: The Art of Everyday Worship

Written and Illustrated by the talented Ruth Chou Simons, this book of devotionals is both captivating for your eyes and your heart.

Introduced to me by my lovely sister in law, I bought myself a copy of this book and have truly enjoyed its wisdom and aesthetic. The messages are timeless and I think Beholding and Becoming would make a wonderful gift for any mom in your life.

You can buy this delightful find from Amazon, Wal-Mart, and other places, but if you’re interested in the added element of a signed copy, Ruth Chou Simons has that for sale on her website. She’s also offering 20% off for Mother’s Day until April 25th.

Beaded Fringe Earrings

For the women who love to accessorize and express themselves with beautiful pieces of hand selected jewelry, a well made pair of beaded fringe earrings can add flair to any outfit.

As mamas, especially to young children, it’s easy to feel a bit mundane and having a pair of earrings to dress up an everyday casual outfit can be a mood booster all on its own.

LiliBeadShop on Etsy has some truly terrific designs and a long list of adoring customers who have offered raving reviews. Check it out!

Take 10 Mindfulness Kit

This kit, on sale at Anthropologie, includes a 365 day journal, a 10 minute hourglass, two pencils, a step by step meditation guide, and inspirational quotes.

If you know a mom who is invested in making mindfulness a routine part of her life, this would be an encouraging addition to her efforts. I love how simple and straight forward it is, too.

Roam Homegrown Gift Box

Gifted to me by my thoughtful cousin, I experienced a Roam Homegrown self care kit and can personally vouch for their quality items. Based in Austin, Texas, Roam was founded by a mother of two committed to a non-toxic lifestyle.

Perhaps a woman in your life resets with a hot bath and some time alone, or maybe needs some nudging to do just that. These boxes come in a variety of options and the site is currently offering Mother’s Day themed kits. Go on, take a gander and support another mama in the meantime!
